District’s smokers stub out their cigarettes for Stoptober

Bradford smokers will be tomorrow (Thursday, 1 October) joining over a quarter of a million smokers across the UK in attempting to remain smoke-free for 28 days to improve their and their family’s health. 22.6% of adults across Bradford still smoke and, according to figures from Public Health England, two thirds of them want to give up. Help for the homeless

Bradford – Homeless rough sleepers will be helped by a new service run by Bradford Council in partnership with a housing charity. From October 12 the No Second Night Out service will help single people who have recently become homeless to stop them becoming entrenched rough sleepers. Similar services have been successful in London and other major cities to reduce the number of rough sleepers on the streets. Kirklees – Smokers are being urged to sign up to Stoptober 2015 with friends, family and colleagues to boost their chances of quitting. Mischievous meerkats attempt Great Escape from Tropical World

Council Leader warns new private hire rules could pose safety risk to passengers

Bradford libraries get communication tool for people with learning disabilities

A new communication tool for families, carers and health professional workers is now available in Bradford’s libraries to help people with learning disabilities. Boardmaker is used to create picture cards which can be laminated and used as a communication tool for young people with learning disabilities for whom verbal communication is not an option.
