Bradford apprentice shortlisted for national award

A Bradford apprentice has reached the final stages of the national PPMA Apprentice of the Year Award 2019.

Sam Carritt, an apprentice revenue, benefits and payroll officer, has been short listed by the Public Services People Managers Association (PPMA) accolade along with sixteen other public sector professionals.

He’s been invited to take part in an event held at the University of Warwick Business School for two days of personal coaching and development; where the overall winner will be decided.

This year, the PPMA received their best ever number and quality of applications across the country and a variety of organisations with only 16 being shortlisted for the award

Sam joined Bradford Council’s Revenues, Benefits and Payroll service in May 2018 and signed up to the Public Service Operational Delivery Officer apprenticeship provided by our internal training provider, Skills for Work.

Martin Stubbs, Assistant Director for the Revenues, Benefits and Payroll Service at Bradford Council, said:

“Sam constantly demonstrates his enthusiasm and commitment to both his work and his apprenticeship and we are extremely proud that one of team has been nominated for this prestigious award.

“He is a real advocate and ambassador for young people and apprenticeships – always looking for a way he can make a positive difference to our Bradford residents.

Cllr Imran Khan, Bradford Council’s portfolio holder for Education, Employment and Skills, said: “It’s a great for Samuel to be shortlisted for this award and demonstrates the dedication and effort he’s put into making Bradford a better place for those who live in the district.”

“We know that he is just one of many hard working and talented people in the city with enthusiasm and energy looking to make Bradford a great place to live and work.”

“Along with our other apprentices, he is helping to demonstrate the energy and benefits that young people and apprentices can bring to an organisation like Bradford Council.”

  • Samuel will be taking part in the final stages of the Apprentice of the Year awards 2019 on 7 and 8 March.
  • National Apprenticeship Week 2019 takes place between 4 and 8 March 2019.
