A video has emerged today showing a member of the Bradford Conservative Party promoting anti-Semitism, misogyny and discrimination. The footage, which was sent to Urban Echo on a mobile device, was initially shared on social media, but deleted afterwards.
The meeting, which took place in Frizinghall yesterday (10 April 2016), shows an elderly member of the Heaton ward in a heated and emotional speech to a gathering crowd saying, “Why should we let our daughters dishonour us.”
He continues, “We will not give up the biraderi (clan) which is handed down to us from our forefathers.”
After raising the hand of local Heaton Conservative candidate Sajid Akhtar, he concludes, “We must send a clear message to the Christians and the Jews.”
Yesterday, Bradford West MP reacted to the video by saying: “I am appalled that selected Tory candidates are shouting this message on the streets of Bradford West and this is not something that the people of Bradford West will accept and nor will I.
“I respect parties having a difference of opinions but a key message has to be of tolerance and mutual respect in our beautiful and diverse city.”
The Conservative Party were unavailable for comment.
