Lister Park is one of 73 parks and green spaces nationally who received “Much Loved” status in the Fields in Trust awards. It is one of only six parks in Yorkshire to receive the status.
Fields in Trust, champion and support parks and green spaces, they launched the awards to find the UK’s best park in May asking people to nominate their favourite local green spaces and share why they are so special.
They received 364 nominations nationally and they then went to the public vote.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: “We are thrilled that Lister Park has been granted this status and what makes this even more special is that it was voted for by the people who use the park and love it.
“Our parks are a wonderful resource for the people of the district and we are rightly proud of them.
“I would like to thank our staff as well as the many enthusiastic and committed volunteers whose contribution is greatly appreciated by both the Council and the users of the district’s parks. I hope people will carry on enjoying Lister Park and all our parks.”
