The Bradford City Runs event is organised by Bradford Council and Bradford Athletics Network and is due to be even bigger and better in 2015, once again offering participants of all levels of fitness the choice of what distance to take on!
You can opt for a 5k, 10k or a half marathon, depending on your fitness level and goals. The route, all on closed roads, follows the now familiar 5K circuit around Bradford University and Bradford College, finishing in Bradford’s multi-award winning City Park.
There is plenty of time to get into training now, and you can follow part of the route by following the first of Bradford’s innovative “GreenLine Mile” routes which has already been installed.
After the success of last year’s kids’ race, children will once again kick off the proceedings and get a flavour of a big city centre event, by taking part over an approximately one-mile course which finishes in City Park.
New for 2015 will be a Spectator Hub with family entertainment, little runners races and games, as well as a new under 5’s play-zone in Centenary Square.
There will be prizes for all categories and proceeds from the event will go to a very special charity.
Phil Barker, Assistant Director for Sport and Leisure at Bradford Council, said: “Whether you are running your first 5K, wanting to walk a similar distance, pushing yourself for the 10k, setting yourself an amazing half marathon challenge or you just want to run for fun, whilst raising money for a good cause – this is the day for you! Participants of all levels from the whole Bradford district and beyond are welcome, including those in fancy dress, to walk, run, support and celebrate at a great community event!”
The Bradford City Runs are part of a series of “Active Autumn” events which include the Bradford Sky Ride and Epilepsy Action Bradford 10K.
