The deadline for green-fingered residents to grab a 20 per cent discount from Bradford Council for their garden waste service has been extended for a week.
Due to the popularity of the service, the date residents need to pay for their garden waste collection service to receive the discount has been changed from 15 May to 22 May.
From 1 June householders will have to pay to have their garden waste (brown) bin emptied.
The payment for the single bin collection service will be reduced to £28 for the year if paid before the extended deadline of 22 May after which it will be the standard £35.
You can also order an additional bin and the extra charge for emptying this will be £14.00 if you pay before 22 May or £17.50 after this date.
You can pay online or at a local Pay Point. To use a Pay Point, all you need to do is contact Bradford Council on 01274 431000 to request a letter of confirmation. You will need to take the letter to your preferred Pay Point to register.
The service will run from 1 June 2016 to 31 May 2017 which includes 11 four-weekly collections.
A letter, and licence sticker, which must be displayed on your garden waste (brown) bin, will be sent to confirm you have paid for the service. Any bins put out for collection without the licence sticker will not be emptied after 31 May.
The new chargeable service is offered to all households accessible by the standard (26 tonne) bin wagon. If you don’t already have a garden waste (brown) bin and want to have your garden waste collected you can opt-in to the service.
There will be no charge for the bin but you will have to pay the annual fee for the service. So far, more than 25,000 people have signed up for the service.
If you live in a rural area and are currently on a rural round you will need to place your garden waste (brown) bin where your general waste (green) bin is placed for collection.
For your collection dates please refer to your Collection Calendar or check your bin collection dates now online.
Please note that all garden waste bins remain the property of the Council and may be removed should you not wish to use or renew the service.
