There will be all manner of spooky Halloween goings on at the Bradford Food and Drink Festival on Friday and Saturday 30 and 31 October, including a ghoulish ghost hunt, freaky face painting and devilish pumpkin design workshops.
People can enter the ghost hunt to be in with a chance of winning a mobile phone, shopping vouchers, signed cookery books and much more.
Kids will be able to get creative with Halloween arts and crafts, have a go at decorating pumpkins, make some delicious pumpkin soup and have their face painted.
Students from Bradford College will also be putting on street performances to entertain festival goers.
The Bradford Council-run event will feature around 50 stalls, with guest appearances from renowned Italian chef Gennaro Contaldo, Coronation Street actor turned award winning cheese maker Sean Wilson, Great British Bake-Off contestant Sandy Docherty, as well as other local food professionals.
The organisers, Bradford Council’s Markets Service, have been working with local businesses and Jamie’s Ministry of Food, to bring a wide range of stalls with high quality locally produced goods, mouth-watering street food and drink as well as exciting street entertainment to the festival.
The festival has been designed to complement the great food offering already in Oastler Market – cheese, meats, fresh spices and exotic fruits as well as the new bars and venues which have opened in the Independent Quarter.
The event also marks the 6th birthday of Jamie’s Ministry of Food in Bradford.
Diana Greenwood, Markets Promotions and Marketing officer at Bradford Council, said: “We’ve had an amazing response to the Bradford Food and Drink Festival. All the tickets for Gennaro Contaldo have gone, but there are still some free tickets for Sean Wilson on the Saturday at 11am and 2pm.
“We have some fantastic food and drink stalls lined up for the festival, so as well as the great stalls in the nearby Oastler Centre and the bars in the Independent Quarter there’ll be something for everyone.”
