Local groups and communities in Bradford will get to have their say on how money will be spent to bring communities together.
The Stronger Communities Partnership Board invited local groups to come forward with innovative ideas to help improve integration outcomes with its new Innovation Fund.
The Innovation Fund is about stimulating new thinking, building new partnerships and testing innovative approaches.
On Wednesday, 17 July the event ‘You Decide’ will allocate the first round of funding from the Innovation Fund. All applications that have met the criteria will be asked to present their proposal and to vote on all the other candidates. Awards of up to £5,000 will be made. Representatives from People Together will also be scoring. People Together are local residents who form a subgroup of the Stronger Communities Partnership Board which makes a direct link with local people
The activities must be delivered within the Bradford area and benefit local people and engage all communities.
Councillor Abdul Jabar, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Neighbourhoods and Community Safety, said: “I am delighted that the Stronger Communities Partnership has recognised the value in making an investment in ‘grass roots’ work that will bring communities together. We really want to work with our communities to co-design projects and make a real change.”
The Innovation Fund is a part of Bradford Council’s local Stronger Communities Together integration programme, having been selected by the Government as one of five national Integration Areas. The overall programme aims to create the right conditions for the District’s diverse communities to feel comfortable to make connections with other people from backgrounds different to their own, to participate in the opportunities the District has to offer and to feel that they belong.
