Karen Dawber has been appointed as the new Chief Nurse of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Karen is currently the Director of Nursing at Warrington and Halton NHS Foundation Trust and has nine years’ experience as a Director of Nursing across three foundation trusts.
An experienced nurse and service manager, she started her career as a paediatric nurse at Manchester Children’s Hospital and has been a director of nursing at both The Walton Centre and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Welcoming the new appointment, Professor Clive Kay, Chief Executive, said: “I am delighted that Karen will be taking on this pivotal role. She brings with her a combination of skills in nursing, leadership and operational management, and has a passion for ensuring that NHS services are of the highest quality.
Karen said: “I am delighted to be taking up the post of Chief Nurse at Bradford Teaching Hospitals and look forward to working with the community to improve the care, health and wellbeing of the people of Bradford.
“This is something that I am passionate about as I will be improving services that my own family access on a routine basis – everything from AED to maternity and children’s services. I am excited to have the opportunity to build on the existing foundations and provide a solid future for integrated health care, and I am looking forward to representing Nurses and Nursing at the very highest level.”
