Proposed increase in parking times and charges in Bradford

0
Bradford Council is proposing to amend the charging hours for on-street parking within the city centre. Currently charging hours operate between 10a.m and 4.30p.m Monday to Saturday, but it is proposed to extend these to 8a.m to 6p.m Monday to Saturday and to implement a flat rate charge of £1 on Sundays.

Following objections received during the advertisement period, it will be recommended to the Executive meeting on 7 March that the Sunday charge should not be implemented in certain streets at the “top of town” namely North Parade, Northgate, Rawson Road, Godwin Street and Darley Street at the current time.

In addition, the Executive will be asked to approve that limited waiting bays located on Bolton Road, Canal Road and Mill Street be changed to pay and display bays with the provision of some permit parking on Mill Street and Canal Road.

Councillor Alex Ross-Shaw, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport, said:  “The proposals, if approved, will bring the district in line with all other West Yorkshire authorities who already work on the extended hours’ basis.  The parking charges in these nearby authorities are all above the charges levied by Bradford Council.”
