Kala Sangam and Picturehouse at the National Science and Media Museum present a rare opportunity to see not one, but two superstars of world music in Bradford. Ahead of a concert by the greatest classical Indian violinist Dr L Subramaniam, Mrs Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam will make a special guest appearance to perform a welcome song to open the event.
Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam is the recipient of four Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer awards. Accolades for her include the “Best Singer of the Millennium” award at the Stardust Millennium 2000 Awards, a Zee Cine Award 2003 for Dola Re Dola from international hit movie Devdas, and she is a two time recipient of the Bollywood Award.
Kavita was the main featured soloist in the “Global Fusion” album released by Warner Bros, featuring musicians from five different continents. She has sung as a solo artist with orchestras such as the Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Leipzig Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestra.
The evening’s main concert will feature an evening of the very best Indian classical music by the award winning violinist Dr L Subramaniam, accompanied by world-renowned percussionists Tanmoy Bose (tabla) and Dhulipala Srirama Murthy (Mridangam).
